Chairperson Jordan called the meeting to order at 3:52 p.m.
Members present: Chairperson Jordan, Hurley, Getty.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three.
Motion carried.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the Minutes of April 7, 2003, as proposed, be
approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
The request of the Leisure Services Director for authorization to purchase a self-contained
athletic field maintenance unit at a cost of$14,287.00 was reviewed. The unit would replace a
drag unit that is over ten years old. The new self-contained unit would save time and improve
the appearance of more than 20 athletic fields in the city. John Deere and Jacobsen were
contacted and neither offer this type of specialized unit. The following two price quotes were
received:

Central Distributing Co., Inc. $14,942.00
A demonstration will be scheduled with Kromer Co. after April 15, 2003. Kromer Co. stated
they would waive shipping and carting charges if the city would commit to a purchase at the time
of the demonstration. The savings of$555.00 would lower Kromer's price quote to $14,287.00
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Airport Director for authorization to
purchase a cell phone at a cost of $150.00 and a monthly service cost of$34.00 be approved.
Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Investigations Sergeant to travel to
Monterey County, California on February 28 - March 5, 2003 to interview persons regarding a
murder case, with costs not to exceed $782.75, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Senior Planner to attend Effective
Zoning Administration Technique course in Madison, Wisconsin on May 4-7, 2003, with costs
not to exceed $926.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Fire Chief for authorization to
purchase fencing at a cost of$1,135.52 be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Fire Chief for authorization to
purchase firefighter clothing at a cost of$1,696.60 be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Fire Chief for authorization to seek
bids to sell 1966 American LaFrance Aerial be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the request of the Chief Financial Officer for pre-
authorization to expend $4,650.00 to pay FYE2003 general fund allocation to Main Street
Waterloo be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
