Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the Minutes of March 3, 2003, as proposed, be
approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
The request of the Fire Chief for authorization to purchase a trailer for Tech Rescue at a cost of
$4,195.00 was reviewed. Waterloo Fire Rescue received a donation from Sam's Club in the
amount of$600.00 to be used for fire fighting/rescue equipment. The Fire Chief would like to
use the donation plus funds donated to Tech Rescue in the amount of$3,600.00 to purchase a
trailer for the Fire Department's Tech Rescue Equipment. The total cost for the trailer is
$4,195.00. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that said request be approved. Ayes: Three.
Motion carried.
The request of the City Engineer to purchase a microfilm reader/printer at a cost of $4,650.00
was reviewed. The Engineering Department purchased a used letter size microfilm reader/printer
in 1999 for $1,500.00. Recently, the power supply part of this unit went out, and parts are no
longer being produced. Advanced Systems has done some checking with the manufacturer who
will rebuild the power supply if Advanced Systems removes it, sends it in and replaces. The
total cost would be about $600.00. The City Engineer does not feel it would be wise to spend
$600.00 on a unit that cost $1,500.00 and is longer in production and no parts are available.
Advanced Systems has a new letter size microfilm reader/printer that costs $6,150.00. Advanced
Systems is willing to deduct the full $1,500.00 cost of the unit purchased in 1999, making the
cost for the equipment $4,650.00. The microfilm reader/printer will be purchased using Road
Use Tax funds. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that said request be approved. Ayes:
Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Community Services Coordinator
to attend training on Phoenix Fire Department's Urban Survival Program and participate in Sun
City's Senior Home Audit Program in Phoenix, Arizona on March 15-21, 2003, with costs not to
exceed $1,350.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Fire Department Instructor to teach
Industrial Classes in Marshalltown, Iowa on March 11, 2003, with costs not to exceed $135.00,
be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Fire Department Instructor to teach
Industrial Classes in Boscobel, Wisconsin on March 10-12, 2003, with costs not to exceed
$380.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Director of Leisure Services to
attend Iowa Park and Recreation Association Spring Conference in Davenport, Iowa on April 6-
9, 2003, with costs not to exceed $467.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Superintendent of Central Garage
for pre-authorization to expend $1,800.00 to purchase a hydraulic pump and P.T.O. for a Street
Department salt truck be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the request of the City Engineer for pre-authorization
to expend $1,000.00 to purchase a maintenance agreement with Cartegraph Systems be
approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.

expend $3,562.50 to pay Ad-Fax, Inc. to continue development and site enhancements on Fire
