Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that the Minutes of November 18, 2002, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The following bids received for two v-box sale spreaders were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount Stuber Truck Parts $16,556.00 Don's Truck Sales $14,670.00 Future Line Truck Equipment $15,223.37 Eddy Walker Equipment Co. $14,718.00 Truck Equipment Inc. $14,905.76 Trans Iowa Equipment $12,892.00 It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Central Garage that the low bid from Tans Iowa Equipment in the amount of$12,892.00 be accepted. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Police Chief for authorization to purchase body armor at a total cost of $9,118.80 was reviewed. The Police Depai tuient was awarded a grant from the Office of Justice Programs, Bulletproof Vest Partnership, in the amount of$11,175.00. This grant is utilized to reimburse the Police Department for 50 percent of the cost of purchasing bulletproof vests for officers. Presently 12 officers' vests have exceeded the shelf life and need to be replaced, and 8 vests will be needed for anticipated new employees after the first of the year. During the FY03 Budget planning process, the Police Department requested $10,000.00 in Capital Improvement funds for the purchase of the bulletproof vests. Fifty percent of the $9,118.80, or$4,559.40, will be reimbursed through the grant. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for Golf Manager to attend Minnesota Golf Show in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 21-23, 2002, with costs not to exceed $429.40, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Cultural & Arts Curator to return artwork to Springfield, Ohio on December 14-15, 2002, with costs not to exceed $470.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for Interim Community Development Director to attend Monitoring Home: Monitoring Your Program for Compliance Training at Omaha, Nebraska on December 2-5, 2002, with costs not to exceed $450.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Police Lieutenant to attend Police Management School at Johnston, Iowa on December 1-6, 2002, with costs not to exceed $635.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the request of the Leisure Services Director for pre- authorization to expend $1,312.20 to purchase NBA and WNBA replica basketball jerseys for 6th Grade Basketball League be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
