Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that Minutes of May 13, 2002, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a garbage refund in the amount of $10.50 for 926 Williston Avenue be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a garbage refund in the amount of $6.00 for 404 Oaklawn Avenue be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a garbage refund in the amount of $45.00 for 1007 Wellington Street be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for Director of Aviation to attend 2002 FAA Central Regional Airports Conference in Kansas City, Missouri on June 10-12, 2002, with costs not to exceed $591.00, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for Police Sergeant and Police Officer to travel to Denver, Indiana to test and purchase new police canine on June 2-5, 2002, with costs not to exceed $572.78, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. Moved by Hurley, seconded by Getty that a travel request for Fire Fighter to attend Lifesavers 2002 - National Conference on Highway Safety Priorities in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on June 7-13, 2002, with costs not to exceed $1,650.00 be approved, subject to additional information provided at tonight's council meeting. Prior to a vote on the above motion, the following comments were heard. Councilperson Getty stated that he has a problem with the conferences being held in Florida, and he feels the conferences could be held in the middle states, not just the outside states. Councilperson Clark stated he feels travel requests should be approved based on the merits of the conference and not where it is being held. Councilperson Hurley asked why the Firefighter would require $900.00 for lodging. The dates of the meetings are June 9-11, 2002, but he is leaving on June 7 and returning on June 13, 2002. The city should pay only for the nights of the conference. Councilperson Hurley suggested that the Larry Olson try to find information on the nights of lodging required and report at tonight's council meeting. Following comments a vote was taken on the above motion with the following result. Ayes: Two. Nays: Getty. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Hurley that a travel request for the Executive Director of Human Rights Commission, Fair Housing Coordinator, four Human Rights Commissioners and Director of Jesse Cosby Center to attend National Fair Housing Policy Conference in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on June 8-14, 2002, with costs not to exceed $14,654.50, be approved. Prior to a vote on the above motion, the following comments were heard.
