Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the Agenda, as proposed,
be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the Minutes of September
25, 2000, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
The following bids received to repair the mixing valve at Ridgeway
Towers were reviewed:
Young Plumbing and Heating Company: $1, 380. 00—the
mixing valve can be repaired with a one-year
warranty on parts and labor. For $2, 260. 00 the
entire mixing valve can be replaced and installed
with a one-year warranty. There is additional cost
for air freight.
Dalton Plumbing and Heating Company: $2,295.00 to
replace and install a Holby mixing valve using a new
2"x2"xl ' Holby mixing valve with 2" adapter,
piping, gas, solder and flux.
It was the recommendation of the City Planner that the bid from
Young Plumbing and Heating Company to repair the mixing valve at a
cost of $1, 380. 00, plus freight, be accepted. Moved by Gronen,
seconded by Jordan that said recommendation be approved. Ayes:
Three. Motion carried.
The request of the City Planner to amend the travel request for the
Housing Authority to attend the Fall NAHRO Conference was reviewed.
The travel request was approved by the council to allow Waterloo
Housing Authority' s coordinators, director and inspector to attend
the fall NAHRO Conference in Waterloo on October 11-13, 2000. The
travel request was for $960.00 and should be amended to $990.00.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the amended travel request
for Waterloo Housing Authority' s coordinators, director, and
inspector to attend the Fall NAHRO Conference in Waterloo, Iowa on
October 11-13, 2000 for $990. 00 be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
The request of the Fire Chief for authorization to purchase 12 fire
helmets at a cost of $1, 224 . 00 was reviewed. The 12 helmets will
be purchased from Danko Fire Equipment at a cost of $102 .00 per
helmet for a total cost of $1, 224 . 00. Moved by Gronen, seconded by
Jordan that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
Moved by Gronen, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Traffic
Operations Department for pre-authorization to expend $1, 190. 00 to
purchase 120, 50 lb. bags of glass beads be tabled until staff is
available to answer questions. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the request of the Traffic
Operations Department for pre-authorization to expend $3, 399. 00 to
purchase 294 4x4 posts be tabled until staff is available to answer
questions. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the request of the Acting
Police Chief for pre-authorization to expend $5, 780. 00 to purchase
four Dell Dimension 4100 PCs be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
