Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the Agenda, as amended to add Item No. 3 under
New Business, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the Minutes of April 3, 2000, as proposed, be
approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the request of the Superintendent of Streets for
authorization to seek bids for various asphalt emulsions/bituminous products be approved. Ayes:
Three. Motion carried.
The request of the Community Development Director to amend a travel request to attend
NAHRO Conference in Fort Dodge on April 12-14, 2000 was reviewed. The council approved
the travel request for Deb Collett and Gladys Rainey, but Rich Earles, Community Development
Director, will be attending the conference because of the resignation of Deb Collett. There also is
a $140.00 increase in lodging cost because blocked rooms at the conference hotel were sold out.
Reservations have been secured at another hotel. Moved by Gronen, seconded by Jordan that
said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
The request of the Fire Chief to make emergency repairs to the boiler at Station #3 was reviewed.
The boiler at Station #3 located at 222 W. Donald Street was repaired last week at an estimated
cost of$700.00. The repair included replacement of the fire eye and relief valve on the boiler.
Fire Chief Frank Magsamen contacted Finance Committee members to inform them of the
emergency repair. Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that said request be approved. Ayes:
Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Gronen, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Leisure Services Director for pre-
authorization to expend $2,300.00 for fiberglass work and gel coat for aerial lift be approved.
Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Gronen, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Leisure Services Director for pre-
authorization to expend $4,381.76 to purchase two pool vacuums to be used at Byrnes and Gates
pools be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Gronen, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Police Chief for pre-authorization
to expend $2,504.00 for one Dell Inspiron 3800 Notebook be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the request of the Director of Cultural & Arts
Commission for pre-authorization to expend $1,000.00 for Dr. Francis V. O'Connor, a presenter
for the Symposium "Diego Rivera & the American Regionalists" be approved. Ayes: Three.
Motion carried.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Gronen that the request of the Director of Cultural & Arts
Commission for pre-authorization to expend $500.00 for Linda Downs, a presenter for the
"Diego Rivera& The American Regionalist"be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Gronen, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Superintendent of Water
Pollution/Flood Control for pre-authorization to expend $3,186.00 for filter belt for press No. 1
be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
Moved by Gronen, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Superintendent of Central Garage
for pre-authorization to expend $4,500.00 to rebuild a transmission for an automated garbage
truck be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
