The request of the Administrative Director to donate old computer equipment to the Waterloo School District was reviewed. The equipment includes: fourteen 386 PCs with keyboards, seven VGA monitors and mice. The Waterloo School District has indicated that the computers could be used in a computer lab at Black Hawk Elementary School. The equipment is being eliminated in the city's effort toward Y2K compliance. The equipment has a street value of approximately $525.00. Moved by Krizek, seconded by Getty that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The snow removal quote from Woody's Landscaping for the Police Training Center was reviewed. The Police Department's Training Center is located at 348 North Elk Run Road. Former Police Lieutenant Terry Blank, who is now a civilian employee, plowed snow at the Training Center. Mr. Blank will no longer be plowing snow at the training facility. Informal quotes with private snow removal firms have ranged from $125.00 to $150.00 each time snow is plowed. Other city departments have been unable to assist with the snow removal because of their busy schedules when it snows, and the training facility is so remote from their snow plowing locations. Officer Randy Hammitt, who operates Woody's Landscaping, has agreed to plow snow at the Training Center on in-service training days for a cost of $50.00 per occurrence. Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that the quote from Woody's Landscaping for snow removal at the Police Training Center at a cost of $50.00 per occurrence be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Police Chief for authorization to transfer ownership of two donated horses to Officer Richard Knief and Officer Kerry Devine was reviewed. The city received donation of the two thoroughbred horses over thirteen months ago. No More Kisses aka Pepper was ridden and cared for by Officer Richard Knief, and Brandy Manhattan aka Brandy was ridden and cared for by Officer Kerry Devine. The horses were obtained by giving their previous owners a letter certifying their donation to the city for income tax purposes. Both of the horses have worked out well and are in active service in the Mounted Patrol. Neither the city nor the Police Department desires to actively own horses. The transfer is without cost to the city or the officers. Any future disposition of the horses will be solely the responsibility of the individual officers as their new owners. Any costs associated with the care of the two horses will be the individual responsibility of the two officers. Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that said request be approved and ownership of the two horses be transferred to Officer Richard Knief and Officer Kerry Devine. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
