Motion carried.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that the Minutes of October 19, 1998, as proposed, be
approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
A contract with Vose Moving Co. to transport non-salvageable railroad material near the National
Guard Armory was reviewed. As a result of the construction of the Hunt-Wesson Plant Railroad
Spur, there remains some non-salvageable materials that lay near the National Guard Armory.
Weissman Iron and Metal Recycling is offering $80.00 per ton for the material, but the material
must be transported to their yard along Airline Highway. Vose Moving Co., who originally
transported the material to the project site, has proposed to haul the leftover material at a cost of
$560.00. Moved by Krizek, seconded by Getty that said contract be approved. Ayes: Three.
Motion carried.
The following bids received for employee uniforms were reviewed:

It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Water Pollution/Flood Control that the bid of
Aramark be accepted. Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that said recommendation be
approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
The request of the Clerk/Finance Department to purchase the following printer equipment from
Iowa Business Machines, Inc. was reviewed:
1 HP 4000T Printer $1,249.00
1 HP 2000 CXI Printer $ 753.83
1 HP Jet Direct 500X(3 port printer server) $ 320.00
TOTAL COST $2,322.83
The printer currently being used to print licenses is an Okidata dot matrix which is very slow. The
current networked printer will be moved to the front counter to be used by staff for printing
licenses. The new HP 4000T printer would be networked for use by Clerk/Finance staff. The
new color printer would enable the Clerk/Finance staff to print colored documents for Moody's
bond presentation, budget presentations, etc. This item was reviewed and approved by the
Computer Technical Review Committee on October 21, 1998. Funding is available in the
Clerk/Finance budget to purchase the printers and printer server. Moved by Krizek, seconded by
Getty that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
The request of the City Clerk to participate in the Joint Purchasing Group to hire The Segal Company
for consulting services to provide and analyze RFPs for insurance was reviewed. The RFPs will
include life insurance,LTD insurance, prescription drug plan,PPO network and administrative services
to include stop-loss coverage. The following agencies are involved in the Joint Purchasing Group:
Black Hawk County, City of Cedar Falls, Cedar Falls Utilities, MET Transit, Waterloo Waterworks,
AEA Area 7, Cedar Falls Community Schools and Waterloo Community Schools. The Segal
Company will prepare the RFPs, mail to all vendors, analyze proposals received, compile a
comprehensive report of each proposal received, prepare interview questions and attend interviews,
and review contracts from vendors selected. It is anticipated that the RFPs will be sent out January 4,
