Moved by Krizek, seconded by Getty that the Minutes of October 5, 1998, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The request of the Superintendent of Parks for authorization to construct a new cart building at Gates Golf Course was reviewed. The 104' x 30' building will be built mainly with in-house labor, at a total estimated cost of $38,000. Funding is available for the project in the Golf Improvement Fund. A major gift is anticipated to offset most of the cost for the project. Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that said request be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The following bids received for semi-annual EKG and chest x-rays for 23 Waterloo Fire Rescue personnel were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount Covenant $ 108.70 - chest x-rays $ 41.00 - EKG $3,433.10 - Total Cost Allen $ 75.00 - chest x-rays $ 43.50 -EKG $2,725.50 - Total Cost It was the recommendation of the Fire Chief that the tests be handled at one facility for easier record keeping. The request of the Police Chief for authorization to purchase 14 moving radar units at a total cost of$27,230.00 was reviewed. In October 1997 the Police Department awarded the bid for moving radar units to MPH Industries at a bid price of $1,945.00 per unit. The bid price expires on October 28, 1998, and the Police Chief would like to utilize the bid price still in effect and eliminate the need to re-bid. Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that the Police Chief be authorized to purchase 14 moving radar units from MPH Industries at a total cost of$27,230.00. Ayes: Three. Motion carried. The following bids received for a traffic control speed trailer for the Police Department were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount MPH Industries $9,500.00 Stalker $7,170.00 Kustom Signal $9,119.00 MPH Industries has a demonstration model they will sell for $5,800. The unit will be completely checked by the factory prior to delivery. It was the recommendation of the Police Chief that the demonstration model from MPH Industries at a cost of$5,800 be approved.
