The following bids received for traffic signal lamps for the relamping program were reviewed: Bidder Bid Amount Van Meter Industrial, Inc . $ 7, 744 . 80 Electrical Engineering & Equipment Co. $ 8, 248 . 20 WESCO Distribution $ 9, 723 . 36 Midwest Industrial Lighting $11, 360 . 04 Duro-Test Lighting $12, 320 .22 It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Traffic Operations that the low bid of Van Meter Industrial, Inc . in the amount of $7, 744 . 80 be accepted. Moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Personnel Director for authorization to contract with Back Power, Inc . to present back fitness program to employees in the Street, Sanitation, Traffic, Garage, Parks and Water Pollution/Flood Control Departments at a cost of $50 per employees be tabled. Personnel Director Jim Rodemeyer will investigate to see if there are other programs at a more reasonable price. The request of the Walnut Historic Neighborhood to forgive special assessments in the amount of $399 . 00 for 407 Pine Street was reviewed. The Walnut Historic Neighborhood has acquired an emergency grant from the Iowa Historical Society in the amount of $20, 168 to acquire and stabilize the property. The Walnut Historic Neighborhood is one of the targeted neighborhoods of the Community Development Block Grant Program. They are in the third year of revitalization projects which include historic lighting, rehabing of residences, clean up, and beautification. In order to meet the terms of the grant from the Iowa Historical Society, they have raised matching funds of $5, 050 and recruited an equal amount of in-kind service and volunteer work. The City Clerk was instructed to prepare the total amount of assessments to be abated and place on the council agenda of April 6, 1998 . Moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Walnut Historic Neighborhood to forgive special assessments in the amount of $399 . 99 for 407 Pine Street be placed on the council agenda of April 6, 1998 with the correct amount of assessments to be abated.
