Moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that the Agenda, as proposed, be
approved. Ayes : Two. Absent : Mollenhoff . Motion carried.
Moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that the Minutes of March 2, 1999, as
proposed, be approved. Ayes : Three . Motion carried.
The following bids received for protective clothing for the Fire Department
were reviewed:

It was the recommendation of the Fire Chief that the bid for helmets in the
amount of $96 . 00, boots in the amount of $79 . 00 and gloves in the amount of
$26 . 00 be accepted from Danko Emergency Equipment Company; that the bid for
protective hoods in the amount of $17 . 35 from Heiman Fire Equipment be
accepted; and that the bid for suspenders in the amount of $11 . 16,
protective coats in the amount of $484 . 31, and pants in the amount of
$294 . 20 from Fire Gear, Inc . be accepted. Moved by Krizek, seconded by
Jordan that said recommendation be approved. Ayes : Two. Absent :
Mollenhoff . Motion carried.
The request of Thomas Anderson for a loan guarantee in the amount of
$3, 500 . 00 for a lawn care business was reviewed. Mr. Anderson has secured
a $25, 000 . 00 loan from the State of Iowa Targeted Small Business (TSB)
program. Community National Bank has agreed to supplement the TSB program
with a $14, 000 . 00 loan, subject to the city guaranteeing $3 , 500 . 00 . A
guarantee is being used in order that Mr. Anderson will only need to make
one payment for his local financing. Moved by Jordan, seconded by Krizek
that said loan guarantee be approved. Ayes : Two. Absent : Mollenhoff .
Motion carried.
Moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Superintendent
of Parks to seek bids for three trailers for mowers, brush chipper for the
Forestry operation, and a 3/4 ton 4wd pickup to tow mowers be approved.
Ayes : Two. Absent : Mollenhoff . Motion carried.
The request of the Police Chief for authorization to purchase a camcorder
at a cost of $1, 527 . 50 was reviewed. The Police Department ' s crime
laboratory camcorder is unserviceable and repair is not recommended.
Factory estimates for repairing the existing camcorder range between
$650 . 00 and $750 . 00 . A high quality camcorder is necessary to achieve
compatibility with the County Attorney' s court room presentation system and
equipment . Quotations were received from the following companies :

It was the recommendation of the Police Chief that the quote from B&H Photo
in the amount of $1, 527 . 70 be accepted. Moved by Krizek, seconded by
Jordan that said recommendation be approved. Ayes : Two. Absent :
Mollenhoff . Motion carried.
Moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that a garbage refund in the amount of
$60 . 00 for 131 Brookeridge Drive be approved. Ayes : Two. Absent :
Mollenhoff . Motion carried.

Moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that the request of the Superintendent
of Water Pollution/Flood Control for pre-authorization to expend $2, 039 . 00
to purchase additional telephone equipment be approved. Ayes : Two.
Absent : Mollenhoff . Motion carried.
Moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that Bills Payment, as contained in
Schedule AP640, pp. 1-56, dated March 9, 1998 in the amount of $456, 770 .19
be received, placed on file and approved and forwarded to the full council
for approval . Ayes : Two. Absent : Mollenhoff . Motion carried.
With no further business before the committee, it was moved by Kri.zek,
seconded by Jordan that the meeting be adjourned at 5 :40 p.m. Ayes : Two.
