Discussion was heard on the request of Shirley Turner, 307 Bratnober Street, to amend the 1994 garbage exemption form for single family households over 65 years of age. Ms . Turner' s income exceeds the amount allowed for a low-income single household, and she does not qualify for the over 65 years of age exemption. Ms . Turner has requested that the over 65 years of age exemption be amended to include person who are 62 years of age with a disability. Tom Campbell, Acting Clerk/Auditor, stated that it was the recommendation of the Clerk/Auditor' s office to deny said request because allowing said request could set a precedent for a number of requests from single persons under the age of 65 . Moved by Buck, seconded by Angel to deny request to amend age requirement on 1994 garbage exemption form, as we are too far into the process for this year and refer said request to the Finance Committee next year to look into the possibility of lowering the age requirement to 62, or have an exemption for physical disabled persons, and to instruct the City Clerk to send Ms . Turner a letter in regard to the actions taken this evening. Ayes : Two. Absent : Wright . Motion carried.
