Eighty employees selected the coverall/overall option and bids were
received as follows for said items:

Since both bidders were unable to meet the full size and supply
needs of the bid documents for the coverall/overall option, both
have agreed that between the two, the needs of the department can
be met and have agreed to participate at the same bid prices for
approximate equal numbers depending on the availability. It was
the recommendation of the Public Works Director that the uniform
bid be awarded to Aladdin Cleaners and that the quotes from both
Robin' s Surplus and Lederman' s Clothing be approved with the latter
item to be shared in approximate equal numbers based upon
availability. It was moved by Buck, seconded by Angel that said
recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
The following bids were reviewed for high performance cold patch
material:

Des Moines Asphalt & Paving Co. $72 . 50 per ton
It was the recommendation of the Street Superintendent that the low
bid of U.S. Pro Tec, Inc. be approved which is less than the
estimated cost of $50 per ton. It was moved by Buck, seconded by
Wright that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
Chief Koehrsen asked that the request to sell three motor vehicles
be amended to allow their sale with an upcoming auction scheduled
by the Central Garage. It was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright
that authorization be given to dispose of said items with the
city' s auction. Ayes : Three. Motion carried.
Bob Stevenson, City Planner, stated that based upon council action
of July 19, 1993 , Mike Lockey and Associates was retained to
perform a review appraisal performed by Appraisal Associates Co.
for property in conjunction with the Young Ice Arena. Mr. Lockey
has found several discrepancies and according to state law the
review appraiser must do a complete appraisal with his/her own data
which will result in an additional expenditure of $1750 . Staff has
also asked Mr. Lockey to submit a bid for appraisal of the 60 ' x
100 ' lot at the corner of Commercial and West First Street for
possible parking. Cost of said appraisal is $500. It was the
recommendation of the staff that both appraisal options be
approved. Funds will be taken from the arena account. It was
moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that said appraisal quotes be
approved. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
It was moved by Angel, seconded by Wright that the bills payment be
approved as contained in Schedule A918 , pp. 1 - 63 in the amount of
$4, 135, 595 . 94, dated October 25, 1993 . Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
