Members present: Chairperson Angel, Wright and Buck.
It was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that the Agenda, as
proposed, be approved. Motion carried.
The following bid tabulation was reviewed for de-icing salt bids
for the cities of Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Evansdale:

It was the recommendation of the Public Works Director that the low
bid of Independent Sale Co. of Kanapolis, Kansas in the amount of
$27 . 95 per ton be approved. Last year' s low bid, Hutchinson Salt
Company of Hutchinson, Kansas, was not allowed to bid since the
City is currently in litigation to recover costs associated with
their inability to supply salt. It was moved by Buck, seconded by
Wright that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
The request of Metropolitan Transit Authority for authorization to
guarantee an operating loan in an additional amount of $100 ,000 was
reviewed. This will coincide with the receipt of federal monies
and will be guaranteed with the city' s transit levy which is
$886, 577 for the current fiscal year. It was moved by Wright,
seconded by Buck that the Finance Committee recommend that the City
Council approve the additional loan guarantee to MET. Ayes:
Three. Motion carried.
The request of the Fire Chief for authorization to purchase
retirement badges for members of the department at an approximate
cost of $35 each was reviewed. It was moved by Buck, seconded by
Wright that said recommendation be approved. Ayes: Three. Motion
carried.
It was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that a garbage refund in
the amount of $30 be approved for 1710 Commercial Street. Ayes:
Three. Motion carried.
It was moved by Angel, seconded by Wright that the bills payment be
approved as contained in Schedule A918 , pp. 1 - 65 in the amount of
$1, 583 ,041 . 35, dated September 27, 1993 . Ayes: Two. Abstain:
Buck. Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned at 6 : 41 p.m.
