Members present: Chairperson Angel, Wright and Buck.
The Agenda, as proposed, was approved. Motion carried.
It was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that the Fire Chief be
given authorization to replace items on the hazardous material
truck that were used during a hazardous material incident on
September 24th at an approximate cost of $1200. Motion carried.
The request of the City Engineer for authorization to buy out the
Department ' s old copy machine pursuant to a previously signed
agreement with Modern Business Systems was discussed. The city was
prepared to return the copy machine at the end of the 36-month
lease but discovered that a lease amendment had been signed by the
city officials stating that the city would buy out the copy machine
for $3 , 224 . 56 or continue to lease it at one-half of the monthly
lease amount for an additional 24 months in an amount of $3 , 582 . 84 .
Modern Business Machines has acknowledged that this amendment
should not have been executed and has accepted some of the
responsibility for the error and are willing to pay 50% of the buy-
out price. The buy-out cost for the city would be a net cost of
$716 . 57. It was moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that
authorization be given to pay said amount. Motion carried.
The request of Red' s CB, 245 Fletcher Avenue, for a garbage refund
for four years totaling $360 . 59 was discussed. It was noted that
the city's policy has been to refund one year ' s previously paid
garbage. However, due to an error on the part of the city through
the Waterloo Water Works, this property has been inadvertently
billed for service that it has never received. After discussion,
it was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that authorization be
given to approve said garbage refund in the amount of $360. 59 to
Red' s CB. Motion carried.
It was moved by Wright, seconded by Angel that the bills payment be
approved as contained in Schedule A918, pp. 1 - 62 in the amount of
$803 , 492. 25, dated September 28, 1992 . Ayes : Wright and Angel.
Abstain: Buck. Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned at 6: 45 p.m.
