Members present: Chairperson Angel, Wright and Buck.
It was moved by Buck, seconded by Angel that the Agenda, as
amended, to include a third item of unfinished business
entitled "Recommendation to accept price quotations on
police vehicle decals and police vehicle equipment" be
approved. Motion carried.
The following proposals were reviewed for fitness screening
for the Fire Department:
Covenant Medical Center bid:
$20 .00 for six ( 6) tests
Alternate 1 was $142. 10
No bid on Alternate 2
There were no other bids received. It was the
recommendation of the Fire Chief that the bid of Covenant
Medical Center for six tests and the rejection of the
alternate bid be approved. It was moved by Buck, seconded
by Wright that said recommendation be approved. Motion
carried.
The following bids were reviewed for the City' s annual
supply of roadway deicing salt:
1 . Independent Salt Company/Kanapolis, KS $24 . 33/T
2 . Hutchinson Salt Company, Inc.
Baxter Springs, KS $25. 94/T
3 . Domtar Industries, Inc. /Schiller Park, Il $28. 85/T
4 . AKZO Salt, Inc. /Clarks Summit, PA $29. 64/T
5 . Cargill, Inc. /Minneapolis, MN $30.75/T
6 . Morton Salt Co./Chicago, IL $32. 64/T
It was the recommendation of the Public Works Director that
the low bid of Independent Salt Company, Inc. at a cost of
$24 . 33/T be accepted. This bid process is done jointly with
the City of Cedar Falls. Public Works Director John Meyer
reported that the City could expect an approximate pay back
of ten years on the salt storage shed due to the City' s
ability to buy larger quantities of salt and the elimination
of lost product due to weathering.
It was moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that the
recommendation of the Public Works Director to accept the
bid of Independent Salt Company, Inc. be approved. Motion
carried.
