It was moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that the agenda, as proposed, be approved. Motion carried. The award of the Police Radio Maintenance Contract to Radio Communications, Inc. on July 2 , 1990 , was reviewed. (See memo to Hugh Field from Larry Burger, dated August 16, 1990, for sequence of events) . Tim Luce, Assistant City Attorney, reported that he had reviewed the bid documents and the actions of the Finance Committee and recommended that the award to Radio Communications be affirmed. He stated that with a discount clearly stated on the face of the bid sheet, it was a valid bid and was in fact the low bid. It was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that the above opinion be received and placed on file and that the award of the Police Radio Maintenance Contract to Radio Communications, Inc. be affirmed. Motion carried. The following bids were reviewed for the purchase of sirens for police vehicles recently purchased by the Police Department: Streicher' s, Milwaukee, WI Four ( 4) Federal brand sirens, Model PA300 @ $184. 95 each $739. 80 Radio Communications, Waterloo, IA Four ( 4) trees @ $65. 00 each $260.00 Four ( 4) switchboxes @ $169 . 00 each 676.00 Total $936 . 00 The total cost of this equipment is $1, 675. 80, plus shipping. The low compliant bidder for the emergency top light bars was unable to honor his prior bid price because of a price increase. It will be necessary to re-bid the four emergency top light bars. It was moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that authorization be given to purchase the equipment as listed above. Motion carried. It was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that authorization be given to purchase the twelve weapons, accessories and ammunition for the twelve new police officers. Motion carried. It was moved by Angel, seconded by Wright that the bills payment be approved as contained in Schedule A918, pp. 1-40, in the amount of $254, 939 . 50 dated August 20, 1990. Ayes: Two. Abstain: Buck.
