Members present: Chairperson Angel, Wright and Buck.
It was moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that the agenda, as
proposed, be approved. Motion carried.
The following bids were reviewed for clothing and
accessories for Fiscal Year 1991 for the Waterloo Police
Department:
Bidders
Wertjes Uniforms
Palace Clothiers
W & S Ltd.
It was the recommendation of the Police Department that the
bid of Palace Clothiers be accepted on all items bid. It
was explained that while the other bidders are less
expensive, they are not judged to be compliant due to their
texture, color and quality. It was moved by Buck, seconded
by Wright that the bid of Palace Clothiers be approved as
recommended. Motion carried.
The request of Chief Koehrsen for authorization to purchase
one entry size Point-Blank Spectra-Shield in the amount of
$1,875 was reviewed. The Noon Exchange Club has donated
$1000 to the purchase of this equipment. Chief Koehrsen
explained that this is used by the Tactical Team. It was
moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that authorization to
purchase said equipment be approved. Motion carried.
The purchase of lighting equipment to enhance the safety of
the Police Department' s three motorcycles was reviewed. The
equipment includes sidebeam and telescoping lights, a pole
mount and power supply. Quotes were received for Whelen
Products from Streicher' s and Fesler' s totaling $805 per
cycle. It was the recommendation of the Police Department
that the bid of Fesler' s in the amount of $2, 415 be
approved. Motion carried.
The request of the Public Works Director for authorization
to purchase mowers for the Operation Pride crews was
reviewed. The crews have been experiencing considerable
difficulty with the conventional mowing equipment with the
long grass this year. They feel that a cycle-bar mower will
adequately meet the needs of the crews. It was moved by
WrightBuck, seconded byWri that authorization be given to the
purchase of two cycle-bar mowers from the Sled Shed at a
cost of $1,027 . 25 each. Motion carried.
Councilperson Wright stated that the Park Department has
been experiencing considerable down time due to mechanical
failure of their equipment. She suggested that perhaps new
equipment needs to be purchased for the Department for
efficient operation. Rick Tagtow, Director of Parks and
Forestry, will be contacted.
It was moved by Angel, seconded by Wright that the bills
payment be approved as contained in Schedule A918, pp.
1-49, in the amount of $561,913 . 93 dated July 9, 1990.
Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting
was adjourned.
