Members present: Chairperson Angel, Wright and Buck.
It was moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that the agenda, as
proposed, be approved. Motion carried.
The bid recommendations prepared by the Director of Parks
and Forestry Rick Tagtow for topdressing and the purchase
of a John Deere 855 Tractor were reviewed. The low bid for
topdressing was submitted by Randall Transit Mix Co. in the
amount of $2, 141. 25 and from Waterloo Implement for a John
Deere 855 Tractor in the amount of $9, 550. It was moved by
Buck, seconded by Angel that the low bid, together with the
recommendation from the Park Commission, be approved.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that garbage
refunds for 1206 Washington Street in the amount of $13 . 60
and for 2515 Ansborough Avenue in the amount of $21 . 42 be
approved. Motion carried.
The request of the Chief of Police for authorization to
purchase one cellular phone at a cost of $399 was reviewed.
Several Committee members indicated their dislike for
cellular phones because they do not allow for private
conversations. In the absence of a representative from the
Police Department, it was moved by Buck, seconded by Angel
that action on this matter be tabled for one week. Motion
carried.
It was moved by Angel, seconded by Wright that the bills
payment be approved as contained in Schedule A918, pp. 1-42,
in the amount of $143, 530. 41, and Schedule W900, pp. 1-3 , in
the amount of $284. 62, dated April 16, 1990. Ayes: Angel,
Wright. Abstain: Buck. Motion carried.
It was moved by Wright, seconded by Angel that the agenda be
amended to include the request of the Community Development
Administrator for authorization to purchase an overhead door
for the incubator facility at 607 Dearborn Avenue. It was
the recommendation of the Building & Grounds Committee that
the Finance Committee approve said request. It was moved by
Wright, seconded by Angel that said purchase in the amount
of $2, 255 be approved. Motion carried.
Chief Koehrsen now present.
It was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that the discussion
on the purchase of a cellular phone for the Police
Department be brought to the floor for discussion. Motion
carried.
Chief Koehrsen indicated that the purchase will assist the
Police Department in better communication and supported the
request. After discussion it was moved by Buck, seconded by
Wright that said purchase be approved. Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting
was adjourned.
