FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES
December 19 , 1988
6: 30 P.M.

Members present: Chairperson Rose Angel, Wright, Buck
It was moved by Wright, seconded by Angel that the Agenda, as
proposed, be approved. Motion carried.
The following bids were reviewed for a furnace replacement at the
Central Garage, 1314 Black Hawk Street.
Vendor Total Bid
Young Plumbing and Heating Co. $ 1,238 . 00
Fereday Heating Company $ 870 . 00
It was the recommendation of the Heating Inspector that the low
bid of Fereday Heating Company be approved. It was reported that
this was an emergency replacement and prior authorization of
Finance Committee was not able to be obtained. It was moved by
Buck, seconded by Wright that said recommendation be approved.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that a garbage refund for
4026 Alexandria Drive in the amount of $72 . 60 be approved. Motion
carried.
The request of the property owner at 226 Cottage Street for relief
from a delinquent sewer and garbage bill was reviewed. It was
explained that a sewer bill in the amount of $681. 14 was
accumulated against said property due to a water leak. It was
explained that in December, 1987 , the owner had called to have the
water meter removed but for whatever reason, contact was not made
between the Water Works and Mrs. Roby. Subsequent conversations
and dates were reviewed. Mrs. Roby stated that she did not want
to pay any of the bill, since she was not responsible and had made
attempts to have the water shut off.
After lengthy discussion, it was moved by Wright, seconded by
Angel that the Clerk/Auditor be instructed to delete from the
account at 226 Cottage Street sewage charges in the amount of
$681. 14 and garbage charges in the amount of $28 . 56. Motion
carried.
It was moved by Angel, seconded by Wright that bills payment be
approved as contained in Schedule A918, pp. 1-61, totalling
$1,636 , 243 . 12 and Schedule W900, pp. 1-2 , totaling $1, 135. 00 ,
dated December 19, 1988. Motion carried.
With no further business before the committee, the meeting was
adjourned.
