Members present: Chairperson Angel, Wright, Buck.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Wright that the Agenda, as proposed,
be approved. Motion carried.
Moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that authorization be given to
the Superintendent of Central Garage to negotiate prices with
interested parties to dispose of four unused vehicles beyond the
point of feasible repair. Motion carried.
Discussion was heard on the emergency repair of the intersection
of Glenny and West llth Streets. Due to the extremely
deteriorated conditions of Glenny, a much larger area was removed
then originally planned. The Street Superintendent is of the
opinion that the work could better be handled by a contractor
allowing City crews to do additional smaller patch areas and save
money at the same time. Six construction firms were contacted.
Two firms asked the City to furnish the concrete. The following
quotes were given:
City forces: Labor: $2,283 . 00
Mtls. : $2,171. 30
Total: $4,454. 30
Tom Dolan: Labor: $2,100. 00
Mtls. : $2,142. 30
Total: $4,142. 30
K & W Labor: $1,875. 00
Mtls. : $2,142. 30
Total: $4, 017. 30
Youngblut: Total: $3,785. 00
It was the recommendation of the Street Superintendent that the
work be contracted to Youngblut Construction, resulting in a
savings of $669 . 30. Moved by Buck, seconded by Angel that
authorization be given to proceed with Youngblut Contracting
Company for said project. Motion carried.
Moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that authorization be given for
a garbage refund in the amount of $37 . 80 for 626 Dawson Street.
Motion carried.
Moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that authorization be given for
a garbage refund in the amount of $55. 20 for 1013 Sheffield
Avenue. Motion carried.
Moved by Angel, seconded by Buck that bills payment be approved
as contained in Schedule A918, pp. 1-44, totaling $235,055 . 02 and
Schedule W900, pp. 1-3, totaling $6,168. 66, dated October 17,
1988. Ayes: Angel, Wright. Abstain: Buck. Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned.
