Members present: Chairperson Angel , Wright.
Members absent: Buck.
Moved by Wright, seconded by Angel that the Agenda, as amended to
include under New Business Item No. 4--Authorization to take bids
for medical supplies and Item No. 5--Authorization to implement
advance payment schedule for hotel/motel tax proceeds to the
Waterloo Convention and Visitor' s Bureau, be approved. Motion
carried.
The request of the City Engineer for permission to take bids for
a security gate at the flood control levee and West Donald Street
was reviewed. A severe safety problem has developed that could
be addressed with the installation of a six foot high security
gate. Moved by Wright, seconded by Angel that authorization be
given to proceed with taking bids for said project. Motion
carried.
Moved by Wright, seconded by Angel that the garbage refund in the
amount of $52. 20 for 1005 Lafayette Street be approved. Motion
carried.
Moved by Wright, seconded by Angel that the garbage exemption for
1200 Bishop Avenue be denied. Motion carried.
Moved by Angel, seconded by Wright that authorization be give to
the Fire Department to seek bids for medical supplies. Motion
carried.
Bruce Meisinger, Budget Analyst, presented the request of the
Waterloo Convention and Visitor' s Bureau to restructure their
existing payment schedule of hotel/motel tax receipts to
accommodate their seasonal cash flow. They are requesting a one
time cash advance payment now of $30,000 to implement this new
pay schedule. The amount paid would be subtracted from their
final allotted payment later in the year, so that the total
authorized pass through of $210, 000 would not be exceeded by the
end of the fiscal year. Moved by Wright, seconded by Angel that
said request be approved. Motion carried.
Moved by Angel, seconded by Wright that the bills payment be
approved as contained in Schedule A918 , pp. 1-43 , totaling
$159, 823 . 58 and Schedule W900, page 1 , totaling $862 . 00, dated
August 1, 1988. Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned.
