Members present: Chairperson Angel, Wright and Buck.
Moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that the Agenda, as amended be
approved. Motion carried.
The following bids were reviewed for the purchase of scaffolding
to be used in the parking ramps:
Bidder Total Bid
Best Rental $1, 169. 58
Black Hawk Rental $1, 254 . 10
Cohn Brothers $1, 533 . 16
It was the recommendation of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicle
Parking that the low bid of Best Rental be approved. Moved by
Buck, seconded by Wright that said recommendation be approved.
Motion carried.
The request of the Police Department for authorization to seek
bids for a radio maintenance agreement was reviewed. Moved by
Wright, seconded by Buck that said authorization be given.
Motion carried.
The request of the Superintendent of Traffic Signals for
permission to purchase a new traffic signal controller in the
amount of $2, 495 to be used as a spare for the new controllers
installed along University Avenue was reviewed. Moved by Wright,
seconded by Buck that authorization to purchase said traffic
signal controller be approved. Motion carried.
John Meyer, Public Works Director, reported that he and his staff
have been reviewing and evaluating the equipment fleet within the
Street Department and the possibility of offering for sale seldom
used or never used equipment. Currently, consideration is being
given to the sale of a 1972 model Barber-Green asphalt paver.
Lucas Blacktop Paving has made a written offer of $8,000 for this
machine. In checking comparable equipment, it appears that this
offer is adequate. Moved by Buck, seconded by Angel that the
Public Works Director be given authorization to dispose of the
asphalt paver in the most advantageous position to the City.
Motion carried.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Angel that a garbage refund in the
amount of $17. 40 be approved for property located at 2070
Independence Avenue which has been vacant. Motion carried.
The following bids were reviewed for the F.Y. 1988 Cedar River
Slope Protection Project:

Bowers Masonry Company $ 6,934.00
Tom Dolan Concrete Contractor $10,960. 00
Rampart Corporation $ 9 ,270. 00
It was the recommendation of the City Engineer to accept the bid
of Bowers Masonry Company. Moved by Buck, seconded by Angel that
said recommendation be approved. Motion carried.

The following bids were reviewed for the concrete block work for
the Byrnes Park office remodeling project:

Merle Gleason $7, 545. 00
Paul Christensen $7 ,648. 00
It was the recommendation of the Park Director to accept the low
bid of Bowers Masonry. Moved by Wright, seconded by Buck that
said recommendation be approved. Motion carried.
Moved by Angel, seconded by Wright that bill payments be approved
as contained in Schedule A918, pp. 1-37, totalling $89,139. 96,
dated May 2, 1988. Motion carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was
adjourned.
