HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/05/1981 FINANCE COMMITTEE October 5, 1981 City Hall Waterloo, Iowa The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa met in the Mayor's Conference Room in City Hall at 6:30 P.M. on October 5, 1981. Council Member Dowie presiding officer. A On Roll Call : Dowie, Wilharm, Bowers, Roehr The following bids were opened for body armor for the Police Department: 1) Constable Equipment Co. , Inc. 136 @ $158.34 $21,534.24 2) Law Enforcement Equipment Company Size Small $155.10 ea. " Regular 164.15 ea. " Large 182.40 ea. " X-Large 200.30 ea. Moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to refer the above bids to the Police Department for review and a report back. Motion carried. Discussion followed regarding whether the City can require the Police Officers to wear the body armor while on duty. Moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to refer the above requirement to the Mayor's Safety Committee for a report back. Motion carried. The Street Department Supt. that Mt. Vernon Drive pavement is beginning to break up and would require a process called mud jacking to stop the erosion of the street. Moved by Bowers, seconded by Wilharm to allow the Street Department to expend approximately $4,000 for mud jacking of Mt. Vernon Drive. Motion carried. Fire Chief Olson explained that Fire Station #1 is beginning to settle in the center causing some walls to crack. Olson continued that he would like to have permission to take bids on placing support beams under Station #1. Moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to allow Fire Chief Olson to take bids for the repair of Fire Station #1. Motion carried. Police Chief Grimm asked permission to take bids on the removal of the old boiler at the Police Training Facility. Moved by Bowers, seconded by Wilharm to allow the above request. Motion carried. Moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to approve payment of the following bills: DEPT. P.O. VENDOR AMT.
