The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa met in the Mayor's Conference Room in
City Hall at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, September 8, 1981.
Council Member Roehr presiding officer.
On Roll Call : Wilharm, Bowers, Roehr
Absent: Dowie
Bruce Bottorff, Water Pollution Control Superintendent reported that the low bid of Crisp
Service Roofing Company in the amount of $6,790.00 be accepted for repair of disgester
No. 4. It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Bowers to approve this recommendation. The
motion carried.
Ralph Anderson, City Engineer, reported on their recommendation on bids received for
drainage improvements in alley west of Chalmer Avenue between Hartman Avenue and Janney
Avenue and storm sewer improvements in alley at 1700 Jefferson Street. The low bid of
Leo Ohrt in the amount of $2,570.00 for the alley west of Chalmer Avenue was recommended
for acceptance. The low bid of Watco Construction, Inc. in the amount of $2,092.78 for
the alley in the 1700 Block of Jefferson Street was recommended for acceptance. It was
moved by Bowers, seconded by Wilharm to approve this recommendation. The motion
carried.
It was moved by Bowers, seconded by Wilharm to approve payment of the following bills:

The motion carried.
Fire Chief Olson asked permission to solicit bids for a car used for inspection. The
Committee stated that he could limit bids to American made models in the specifications.
It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Bowers to authorize the taking of bids. The motion
carried.
Curt Parsons, Building Official , asked that blanket approval be given to allowing the
Chief Housing Inspection to attend period housing seminars and meetings. Generally they
will be one day meetings with a minimal fee for participation. It was moved by Wilharm,
seconded by Bowers to approve this request. The motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 P.M.
