HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/24/1981 FINANCE COMMITTEE August 24, 1981 City Hall Waterloo, Iowa The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa met in the Mayor's Conference Room in City Hall at 6:30 P.M. on August 24, 1981. Council Member Dowie presiding officer. On Roll Call : Dowie, Wilharm, Bowers, Roehr Bid tabulations were reviewed for the F.Y. 1981 Audit for the City of Waterloo. The following bids were received: 1. Krizek & Krizek No bid 2. Carney, Alexander, Marold & Co. $14,800 3. Den Hartog & Hogan Co. , P.C. 21,700 4. McGladrey Hendrickson & Co. No bid 5. Schoof & Morris, P.C. No bid 6. Smith, Paulsen & Evans 18,940 Chairman Dowie asked if the City should perhaps consider bidding the audit in multiple years. After a brief discussion, it was decided that the present policy would be followed this year. Tom Campbell , Finance Director, recommended that the low bid of Carney, Alexander, Merold & Co. be approved. It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers that this recommendation be approved. The motion carried. Bruce Bottorff, Superintendent of Water Pollution Control Plant, recommended that the low bid of Verbraken & Sons Painting & Decorating in the amount of $5,875.00 for the painting of ceilings in the filter building be approved. Their bid includes paint. It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Bowers to approve this recommendation. The motion carried. Paul Huntley, Superintendent of the Sewer Dept., presented bid tabulations for repairs to the sanitary sewer on Dawson Street between Reed and Cutler. The line is quite old and badly deteriorated. The following bids were received: 1. Watco Construction, Inc. $9,974.00 2. Dale J. Clark Contracting Co. 11,980.00 Mr. Huntley recommended that the low bid of Watco Construction, Inc. be accepted. It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Roehr to approve this recommendation. The motion carried. It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to approve payment of the following bills: DEPT. P.O. VENDOR AMT. Conway 6542 Barnard Trane Serv. Co. $741.00 Police 6827 Data General 425.00 Water Pol . Control 6878 Lewis Motor 396.54 • The motion carried. Bruce Bottorff, Supt. of Water Pollution Control Plant, asked that award of bid on repair of disgester No. 4 be delayed until the scope of work can be finalized.
