The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa met in the Mayor ' s
Conference Room in City Hall at 6: 30 P.M. on May 18, 1981 .
Council Member Dowie presiding officer.
On roll Call : Dowie, Wilharm, Bowers , Roehr
Chairman Dowie explained that the bid of Hanawalt Ford, Inc. for a
pick-up truck for the Engineer' s Office had not been referred to the
Finance Committee for its meeting on May 11 , 1981, but that it had been
received in time by the Clerk ' s Office. Upon Chairman Dowie ' s
recommendation, the City Clerk ' s Office opened the bid and then
referred it to the Engineer' s Office for review and recommendation. It
was moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to receive, place on file, and
refer to the Engineer' s Office the bid of Hanawalt Ford, Inc. in the
amount of $5, 906. 20. The motion carried.
The City Engineer' s Office recommended that the low bid of George Morris
Chevrolet in the amount of $5 , 828. 07 be approved for the pick-up truck.
Their bid would be subject to any manufacturer' s increases . It was
moved by Bowers , seconded by Wilharm to approve this recommendation.
The motion carried.
Bruce Bottorff, Director of Water Pollution Control Plant, asked for
authorization to take salt bids for delivery after July 1. He explained
that he was asking for two alternates : 1 ) one on delivery to Waterloo,
and 2 ) the possibility of local trucks bringing salt back to Waterloo
that ordinarily would have been empty. It was moved by Roehr, seconded
by Wilharm to authorize the taking of bids . The motion carried.
It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to approve payment of the
following bills :
