HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/05/1981 FINANCE COMMITTEE January 5 , 1981 City Hall , Waterloo, Iowa The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa met in the Mayor ' s Conference Room in City Hall at 6 : 30 P.M. on January 5 , 1981 . Council Member Wilharm, presiding. On Roll Call : Roehr, Wilharm, Bowers Absent : Dowie Bids were opened for clocks for City Hall . The following bids were received: BIDDER AMOUNT OF BID Crescent Electric Supply $10 . 66/clock Westinghouse Electric Co. $18 . 00/clock Curt Parsons , Building Superintendent , indicated that the City Hall budget contains a $1 , 000 line item for furniture and fixtures . The number of clocks in City Hall will be somewhat reduced. It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to accept the low bid of Crescent Electric . The motion carried. Larry Cunningham, Garage Superintendent , presented a request to approve the purchase of a garbage truck transmission in the amount of $1 , 936. 00 . This would be used for one of the trucks on the lease/purchase agreement. It was moved by Bowers , seconded by Roehr to approve this purchase. The motion carried. It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to approve payment of the following bills : DEPT. PURCHASE ORDER AMOUNT Electrical 4262 $ 531 . 25 Garage 4639 664. 61 Health/Sani 4254 328 . 80 4293 1 ,485 . 00 Motion carried. Mayor Rooff explained the history in obtaining the emergency generator for City Hall . The federal government will be picking up one half of the cost of a new generator, up to $7 , 000 . 00. Since it does not work, the City will advertise for bids . This will be undertaken in the very near future . Police Chief Grimm asked for authorization for two policemen to attend computer school in Virginia January 26 - 27 , 1981 . With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 6 : 50 P .M. Larry P. Burger City Clerk
