The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa met in the Mayor's Conference Room
in City Hall at 6:30 P.M. on December 1 , 1980.
Council Member Dowie, presiding.
On Roll Call : Dowie, Roehr, Wilharm
Absent: Bowers
The City Engineer's report on bids for the F.Y. 1981 Dawson Street Sidewalk Program,
Contract No. 217, was not given, since this item was on the full Council agenda.
Don Thorson, Street Superintendent, reported that the two low bids for the floor jacks
were Cohn Brothers and Gierke Robinson; however both are foreign-made and parts may be
more difficult to obtain. He recommended that the bid of Dorfman Auto Supply in the
amount of $904.95 be accepted, After discussion, it was moved by Roehr, seconded by
Wilharm to approve the purchase of two floor jacks from Dorfman in the amount of
$904. 95 each. The motion carried,
Bids were then opened for the condenser unit for the Milk Lab, Bids were received
from the following:

Curt Parsons recommended that the low bid of Meyers Sheet Metal Works, Inc, in the amount
of $1 ,286.00 be approved. It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to approve this
recommendation.
It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Roehr to approve the following bills :

The Chairman then called for additional business.
Tom Campbell , Finance Director, asked what the Committee's desire was on garbage refunds.
In the past the only guideline for eligibility was that the person's income be below
$6,500.00 a year. After discussion, it was moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to again
make garbage refunds to any person with an income below $7,000.00 a year. The motion
carried.
With no further business before the Committee, the meeting s ad . rned at 6:45 P.M.
