The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa rn
in City Hall at 6:00 p.m. on August 18, 1980. et in the Mayor's Conference Room
Council Member Dowie, presiding .
On Roll Call : Dowie, Bowers , Roehr, Wilharm
Leonard Katoski , Director of Parks , informed the Committee of a possible future
expenditure due to the necessity of repairing hydraulic floor lift. The lift is
approximately 23 years old. A minimum expenditure of $5,000 is anticipated to
bring the item into a workable and safe condition. Possible funding sources were
discussed including the sale of two lots adjoining Cedar Terrace Park and the sale
of crops in the Riverview Area. These sources will be investigated further before
an expenditure is made.
Chairman Dowie briefly explained the proposed bidding
ure for
vehicles. Changes have been made as suggested. He alsooce recommendedetthattmthe and
Committee formally adopt a procedure whereby those persons desiring to appear
before the Committee inform the City Clerk in writing by noon of the Council day.
It was moved by Wilharm, seconded by Roehr to formally adopt the above procedures
relating to bids and agendas for the Finance Committee. The motion carried.
Larry Burger, City Clerk, informed the Committee that in viewing word processors ,
the possibility of an expanded system capable of doing additional work is being
investigated. He suggested that a Committee be appointed to review the City's
need for such an expanded machine. Jack Roehr and Tom Penaluna agreed to sit on
the Committee with Larry P.- Burger as the Chairman. It was suggested that a non-
City person sit on the Committee. Don Singer will be asked to assist the Committee.
The City's participation in subgrade work in Sturdy Addition requested by Robert
Smith was discussed. Wayne Claassen Engineering & Surveying, Inc. has justified
the amount of work completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. It was
moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to allow payment of the bill in the amount of
$4,663.00. The motion carried.
Chairman Dowie called for additional business , there was none, and it was moved to
close the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
