HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/23/1980 FINANCE COMMITTEE June 23, 1980 City Hall , Waterloo, Iowa The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa met in the Mayor Conference Room in City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on June 23, 1980. Council Member Dowie, Chairman presiding. On Roll Call : Dowie, Wilharm, Roehr, Bowers Three bids were received for a pick-up and a van for use by the Engineering Dept. All bids meet the specifications sent out by the Engineer's and Larry Cunningham, Superintendent of Garage. Of the 3 bids submitted by George Morris Chevrolet, Trucks of Iowa and Crossroads Ford, the lowest bid for the van was $6,451 .60 (1980 Model) from Crossroads Ford and $5,931 .00 for the 1/2 ton pick-up from George Morris Chevrolet (1981 Model ) . It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to approve the above purchases at the low bid prices mentioned above. The motion carried. Three bids were also received for a pick-up truck for use by the Street Depart- ment Administrator from the City Engineer's Office. The low bidder was George Morris Chevrolet for $6,001 .00. This bidder met the specifications sent out by the Engineer's and Larry Cunningham, Superintendent of Garage. This expense was a budgeted item in the F. Y. 1981 Operating Budget. It was moved by Bowers, seconded by Roehr to accept the low bid of George Morris Chevrolet for $6,001 .00 for the pick-up. The motion carried. Three bids were also received for a four-wheel drive pickup for use by the Flood Control Facilities Engineer. All bids meet the specifications of the Engineer's Office and Larry Cunningham, Superintendent of Garage. The City Engineer recommended that the bid of Trucks of Iowa, Inc. for $7,630.00 be accepted. Money has been alocated in the F. Y. 1981 Operating Budget for the pick-up. It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to approve the Trucks of Iowa bid in the amount of $7,630.00. The motion carried. Del Bowers, Chairman of the City Hall Building Committee, reported that two bids have been received for the repair of sidewalks on the Mulberry Street side of City Hall and the step into the rear of the Police Department. The two bidders were Denman Phillips in the amount of $660.00 and Chuck Mauser & Son, Inc. in the amount of $990.00. This improvement could be eligible for Block Grant Funding. In no case will payment be made from the F. Y. 1980 Operating Budget. It was moved by Bowers, seconded by Roehr to accept the bid of Denman Phillips in the amount of $660.00 for the repair of City Hall sidewalks. The motion carried. Bids were also received for salt for the City streets. Low bid was from Diamond Crystal Salt in the amount of $29.52 per ton. It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to accept the low bid of Diamond Crystal Salt in the amount of $29.52 per ton. The motion carried.
