The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor ' s
Conference Room in the City Hall at 6: 30 P.M. on February 18, 1980.
Council Member Wilharm, Acting Chairman, presiding.
On Roll Call: Present : Bowers, Roehr and Wilharm. Absent : Dowie.
Tom Campbell reported that Mr. Stewart , an employee of the Street Depart-
ment , was not signed up for workmen' s compensation at the time he was em-
ployed and since then has been hospitalized and occured medical bills to-
taling $522. 10, which should have been covered by insurance.
It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to refer this matter to Roger
Mogle, Personnel Director and to report back next week with his recom-
mendation.
Jerry Franke of Plan and Program Commission presented to the Finance Com-
mittee the request for a 5 ' x 5 ' pull down type of projection screen to be
used in the Council Chambers. Discussion followed as to the size of screen
to buy. It was referred to Plan and Program Commission to report back in
one week his recommendations.
Attorney Evan Hultman reported on the Employee ' s Deferred Compensation
Plan and recommended not allowing any additional companies to be accepted
by the City.
He stated that the companies now signed up should be allowed to continue
service so that city employees will be protected .
It was moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to accept the City Attorney ' s
recommendation. Motion carried .
Jerry Franke requested the Finance Committee to approve PP payment from
Communication Network Systems (CNS) for the completion of Phase I of the
Downtown Study. Moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to approve payment .
Motion carried .
Acting Chairman Wilharm called for additional business, there was none,
and it was moved to close the meeting at 6: 42 P.M.
