The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor' s Con-
ference Room in the City Hall at 6 : 33 P.M. on January 7 , 1980.
Council Member Dowie , Chairman, presiding.
On roll call : Present : Dowie , Getty, Roehr, Wilharm. Absent : None .
Chairman Dowie called the meeting to order.
Jerry Franke reported on the purchase of a Sewer Rodder machine. The Sewer
Department now has two older rodders . The manufacture of these models have
gone out of business , and there are now no replacement or repair parts available .
Discussion followed concerning the financing of equipment out of the Sewer
Department . Mayor Rooff reported that the purchasing of items not in the
budget should be checked with the Iowa League of Municipalities concerning the
new Iowa Code and referred this to Jerry Franke to report back on.
Jerry Franke explained the budget for next year and the initial budget requests
from the departments . He stated that approximately $17 , 397 , 111 would have to
be raised to cover all budget requests . The amount collected from property
taxes would not cover these requests and would increase property taxes
approximately $1 , 381 , 723 to cover these requests . Discussion followed.
Chairman Dowie called for additional business , there was none , and it was
moved by Getty to close the meeting at 6 :47 P .M.
