The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo , Iowa, met in the Mayor ' s Con-
ference Room in City Hall at 6 : 30 P.M. , on December 26 , 1979 .
Council Member Getty, Chairman, presiding.
On roll call : Present : Dowie , Getty, Roehr, Wilharm. Absent : None .
Chairman Getty called the meeting to order.
Police Lt . Shook reported vehicles needed to be repaired and cars washed; cars
were washed at Rocket at cheapest price of $2 . 00 per wash. Mayor Rooff pointed
out that November bills were not approved. Lt . Shook stated the figure of
$10 , 752 . 61 was incorrect and should be $5 , 752 . 00 ; the accident repairs was shown
as $10, 752 . 61 , received back from insurance company was $587 . 00 , car wash past
due $665 . 00, and bills and needed repairs outstanding $1 , 183 . 00 ; requested was
for approval of outstanding bills , needed car repairs , and car wash.
Discussed was report on accidents and why Council was not getting same ; if acci-
dents were taken up with officers , given time off and suspensions ; damage claims
paid on payment plan, and if not paid, turned over to city attorney for legal
action.
Council Member Roehr stated that basically the questions have been answered are'
Lt . Shook stated in the future copies of accident reports will be sent to Fine.
Committee .
Moved by Dowie , seconded by Roehr that these bills be paid as requested. Moti
carried. Chairman Getty stated let the records show that these bills will be
paid.
Dowie brought up that revenues received for line items which the City pays ar(
not put back in same line item. A discussion followed that revenues and expel'
tures should be the same . Pointed out was Conway budget where line items paid
out don' t show up until end of year. Mayor Rooff stated a step was taken this;
year toward solving this . Chairman Getty asked for records to show that if yc;�,
look at line item, it is not bacause it is an in and out type of thing.
Chairman Getty called for additional business , there was none , and it was
moved to close the meeting at 6 : 40 P.M.
