The Finance Committee of the Uity of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor' s Con-
ference Room in City Hall at b : 3U P .M. on December 10, 1979 .
Council Member Dowie, Acting Chairman, presiding.
On roll call : Present: Dowie, Roehr, Wilharm. Absent: Getty.
Acting Chairman Dowie called the meeting to order.
Acting Chairman Dowie brought up the request from Police Chief Bemisdarfer, for
a new camera for the Police Lab, and Chief Bemisdarfer said this is a budgeted
item. Approved.
Mayor Rooff explained the problem with Robert Beener and his claim of not
receiving 72 weeks vacation pay, and Mayor recommended the Committee refer
this to himself, Beener and Tom Campbell to settle.
Discussed was the $100 rule on expenditures that are to be reviewed by the
Finance Committee, and due to inflation and the fact that these items are
budgeted items , it was suggested to raise this figure to $300 . Plan and
Program Dir . Franke said his department reviews these expenditures anyway,
and would be sure the Finance Committee got a full report for each weeks
activity.
Moved by Wilharm, seconded by Roehr to change the figure from a $100 limit to
a $300 limit. Motion carried.
Council Member Roehr brought in a request from Ray Hoofnagle, a resident on
Hanna Blvd. , whose sewer was backing up and called Roto-Rotor to see what the
problem was , and they told him the City was flushing out its system that day
in the area, which caused his problem. He is now asking the city to pay the
bill from Roto-Rotor in the amount of $12 .50 . Mayor Rooff said to hold this
request for a week and refer it to Sewer Supt. Huntley to report back next
week.
Acting Chairman Dowie called for additional business , there was none , and it
was moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to close this meeting at 6 : 45 P .M. so
the Council may meet in Closed Executive Session.
