The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo , IDwa, met in the Mayor' s Con-
ference Room in City Hall at 6 : 30 P .M. on October 15 , 1979 .
Council Member Dowie , Acting Chairman, presiding .
On roll call : Present : Dowie , Roehr, Wilharm. Absent : Getty.
Council Member Bowers reported on purchase of gas and diesel flusher unit ,
and recommended the gas unit, concurred by Sewer Supt . Huntley. It was de-
cided that the present unit was not in operation enough during the week to
justify the extra cost of the diesel unit .
Moved by Roehr, seconded by Bowers to approve the purchasing of the gas flush-
er unit . Motion carried.
Plan and Program Dir. Franke asked for the Committee ' s opinion of hiring a
firm to do a study of the revitalization for the downtown shipping area. The
firm would give recommendations concerning the coming down of buildings and
improvements to be made to existing buildings and needed landscaping. The
money would come out of industrial revenue bonds . It was decided that this
project should not be delayed.
Moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm to authorize the Mayor to approve the
signing of a contract . Motion carried.
Sewer Supt . Huntley recommended the purchasing of a pickup . There is money
now in the budget for this purchase and a bid of $5 , 251 was received.
Moved by Roehr, seconded by Wilharm that the purchase be approved. Motion
carried.
Acting Chairman Dowie called for additional business , there was none , and
closed the meeting at 6 :43 P.M.
