HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/04/1979 Finance Committee September 4, 1979 Mayor' s Conference Room City Hall, Waterloo, Iowa The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor ' s Con- ference Room in City Hall at 6 : 30 P .M. on September 4, 1979 . Council Member Getty, Chairman, presiding . On roll call: Present: Getty, Roehr, WilhaLui. Absent: Dowie . Chairman Getty called the meeting to order. Garage Supt. Cunningham reported receiving only one bid for two jack-hammers , one 90 lb . and one 60 lb . for the Street Dept . , in the amount of $1392 . 25, with trade in for two old ones . Approved. Mayor Rooff introduced a representative from Iowa State University Extension Service (4-H Program) , who asked the City to renew an agreement for City' s share of $1394. 00 a year, same as last year. All agreed this was a good pro- gram, which kept children off the streets , and out of 928 attending this year, from January thru July, 43% were Waterloo children. Mentioned was an open house, September 10, 1979 from 4 to 6 P .M. , and Council Members urged to see the facilities . Moved by Getty, seconded by Wilharm that the City renew the agreement for their share of $1394. 00, and present this for Council action next monday. Motion carried. Mayor Rooff informed the Committee the City was ready to hire Jim Rodemeyer from the County CETA program, as Compliance Officer, and as Assistant to Personnel Director. As Compliance Officer he would make sure all contractors have Affirmative Action Programs that comply with State and Federal regulations . Chairman Getty questioned spending $11, 622. 80 on boiler at McElroy Auditorium, and Mayor Rooff said their burner in the boiler went out and had to be fixed, bids were taken and the low bid accepted. Chairman Getty called for additional business , there was none, and closed the meeting at 6 : 42 P .M. Katherine Gibbs , City Clerk by Jolene DeLorbe, Deputy Clerk
