The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor ' s Con-
ference Room in City Hall at 6 : 30 P .M. on August 27, 1979 .
Council Member Getty, Chairman, presiding .
On roll call: Present: Dowie, Getty, Roehr, WilhaLili.
Chairman Getty called the meeting to order .
Mayor Rooff informed the Committee that he authorized Animal Control Director,
Hoffman, to purchase a ' 79, 3/4 ton van for $6300 and the extra money needed
would come from other areas . Approved.
ChaiLilian Getty informed the Committee of invoices of around $2000 for Civil
Defense generator. Mayor Rooff said Carl Rogers told him the generator we
got from the Federal Government, looked new from the outside, but was wore
out inside. So now, the Federal Government is willing to pay half for a new
one, which would run $15, 000 to $18 , 000, and our share would be $8, 000 to
$10, 000, which would be less than trying to fix the first one . We are waiting
for the official notice of that agreement, and then Civil Defense would let
the contract. Mentioned was selling the old one for parts .
Chaituian Getty questioned membership dues for Susan Heaton, of Conway for the
Downtown Council . Dowie informed everyone it was important for us to advise
the downtown merchants what is coming to town. Approved.
Chaitutan Getty questioned why Jim Steely of Conway never signs his purchase
requisition forms? Dowie said he would remind Mr . Steely of that.
Chairman Getty called for additional business , there was none, and closed the
meeting at 6: 45 P .M.
