HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/25/1979 F ance Committee J-uiie 25 , 1979 Mayor ' s Conference Room City Hall - Waterloo, Iowa The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor ' s Con- ference Room in City Hall at 6 : 30 P .M. , on June 25 , 1979 . Council Member Getty, Chairman, presiding . On roll call: Dowie, Getty, Roehr, Wilharm. Chairman Getty called the meeting to order . City Engineer Anderson reported on the sewer problem on French Street , stating it was too shallow, which would cause pipes to freeze , break or crack, and insulation would not solve the problem. Anderson recommended that the Finance Committee approve a change order of approximately $30, 000 for a new sewer . Dis- cussed was as this amount would exceed the limit of state code, the need of a public hearing and advertising for bids . Chairman Getty recommended the Committee turn this over to the Engineers and Mayor Rooff for their investigation and bring back next Monday. Plan and Program Director Franke presented the revised copy of the agreement of Rosenkrans Electronic Company, for the City' s communication radio repair services . The Finance Committee decided to recommend Rosenkrans , to the whole Council.. Assistant Police Chief Larry Dolan talked on the $27, 000 left in the budget. for 79-80 fiscal year, to update the fleet . He asked if there were any questions on the lease agreement with Hanawalt Ford. Questioned was the number of larger cars compared to smaller ones , and Asst . Police Chief :Dolan explained the difficulty in being able to lease smaller cars . The question was raised if the department was changing cars around enough to keep mileage about equal on all vehicles and it was explained many cars are painted other than white and because of color , cannot be put on the fleet. Suggested was being sure good records are kept of this leased program to see how it works . Moved by Dowie, seconded by Roehr that the City go along with this leased agree- ment with Hanawalt Ford. Motion carried. Finance Director Tom Campbell mentioned a problem with National Guard' s pay and city' s employees regular pay; he has been telling them to cash their National Guard' s checks, and the City will settle with them later, when more information is found out.
