The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor's Conference
Room in City Hall at 6:35 P.M. on June 4, 1979.
Council Member Getty, Chairman, presiding.
On roll call, present: Dowie, Getty, Roehr and Wilharm.
Chairman Getty called the meeting to order.
Treasurer/Finance Director Campbell reported the general fund was low with large bills
coming up, the City did not know how much tax money it would receive and at this time
it was $300,000 behind.
Chairman Getty stated there were no major expenses coming up before June 30th.
Treasurer/Finance Director Compbell asked that payment for ambulance be held up until
new fiscal year because if bonds are to be sold, the general fund is what the bond.
rating is based on.
Mayor Rooff told the Finance people to stay on top of the general fund for the next
couple of weeks.
Treasurer/Finance Director Caiiybell stated he needed a decision by June llth to get
the salaries for next fiscal year on the computor and was told the Council would act
on this next Monday night.
Chairman Getty called for additional business.
Garage Supt. Cunningham asked permission to buy a drum lathe for around $1200 and needed
an OK to hold. This was not in the budget but would pay for itself as 5 to 6 drums could
be turned out each week.
Chairman Getty nwved and Council Member Dowie seconded that the drum lathe be purchased
with payment to be made after July 1st. Motion carried.
Treasurer/Finance Director Campbell asked what should be done about garbage refunds to
the people who filed after the March 15th deadline, about forty.
Discussed was if the bills contained this information; handling on individual basis;
Mayor Rooff to take care of these administratively.
Chairman Getty closed the Finance Committee meeting at 6:42 P.M.
