The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor' s Con-
ference Room in City Hall at 6 : 30 P .M. , on May 29, 1979 .
Council Member Getty, Chairman, presiding.
On roll call: Present : Dowie, Getty, Roehr, Wilharm.
Chairman Getty called the meeting to order .
Sewer Supt. Huntley reported 3 cave-ins over the weekend and mentioned were
Independence Avenue and Highland. They were about 14 feet deep and he had no
idea what it might cost. He said most of the contractors charge about the same,
but he guessed at least $1500 .
Chairman Getty and the Committee said to go ahead, it had to be done .
John Halbach, Milk Sanitarian, requested permission to undercoat the new Ford
Pinto his department just purchased and gave an estimate of $165 . 00 .
Moved by Roehr, seconded by Dowie that John Halbach be authorized to undercoat
the Pinto . Motion carried.
Ralph Anderson, City Engineer came to explain his request for meters . These
are Nuclear Density Meters used in testing soil, concrete, etc . and would save
alot of time for his people compared to the old method. He would like to pur-
chase one from this year ' s budget, and one out of next years , as there might
not be enough funds next year to cover them both, which he needed. Chairman
Getty and the Committee said to go ahead and order one now.
Chairman Getty called for additional business , there was none, and closed the
meeting at 6 : 48 P ,M.
