HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/19/1979 Finance Committee Meeting March 19, 1979 Mayor's Conference Room City Hall, Waterloo, Iowa The Finance Committee of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor's Conference Room in City Hall at 6:30 P.M. on March 19, 1979. Council Member Getty, Chairman, presiding. On roll call, Present: Dowie, Getty, Roehr and Wilharm. Chairman Getty called for business to be presented. Garage Supt. Cunningham reported an OSHA inspection was conducted last Monday, March 12, 1979, and there were a few things which he was going to have to buy, such as six (6) drop cords, explosion proof, switches had to be moved, etc. A discussion followed and Cunningham is to check with Park Board to see what they paid for drop cords, and to contact Electrical Department to have it do the electrical work. Moved by Roehr, seconded by Getty that Garage Supt. Cunningham check with Electrical Department for the rewiring and to bring back to the Finance Committee the price on extension cords. Motion carried. Garage Supt. Cunningham reported he needed 20 police car type tires @ $40.54 each immediately and these were included in the bid. He was instructed to order said tires. Garage Supt. Cunningham reported two transmissions out and one engine blew up. He stated one transmission was out of a 1968 Dodge and the engine was out of a 1979 police car which had been bottomed. Mayor Rooff loudly asked who did it and where in the HELL he was at. Garage Supt. Cunningham reported he would have at least three engine overhauls on street sweepers. Chairman Getty asked that Finance Director Campbell check to see if he had paid the registration fee of $175.00 each for Bowers and Burton in advance as the National League of Cities has included this item in their bill. Chairman Getty asked Garage Supt. Cunningham to (1) get the information on the drop cords and submit to Finance Committee, (2) check with the Electrical Dept. on switches, etc. , (3) if transmissions need to be fixed, get them cheap. He also asked the Police Department Safety Committee if the Police Department was keeping a list of accidents which involved police cars.
