HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/08/1979 January 8, 1979 The Finance Committee of Waterloo, Iowa, met in the Mayor 's Conference Room in the City Hall at 6 :36 P.M. on January 8, 1979. Councilman Getty presiding, On roll call : Present : Getty, Dowie , Wilharm. Absent : Roehr. Councilman Wilharm raised the question if purchase order should be brought before the Finance Committee before purchasing the item? Mayor Rooff stated in an emergency, a department head would come for his approval and then the Committee Members are contacted . Councilman Wilharm pointed out the Committee had an understanding on supplies over $100 a requisition was to be submitted before buying. Mayor Rooff said he would send out a letter. Councilman Getty asked why Conway did not order letterhead to be printed by the City Print: Shop. Mayor Rooff replied the Commissions and Boards approve their own bills . City Clerk Gibbs reported the water main break in front of City Hall and would bring to Council next week as an emergency. Mayor Rooff reported the Plumbing Inspector has been asked to get a price on a cast iron main and a search would be made for federal funds , or to get this out of the budget . A discussion followed on $100 purchase orders being presented to Finance Committee before buying, or if $500 should be set . Mayor Rooff felt this should be left at: $100 because if this was budgeted, the Committee would approve it . Garage Supt . Cunningham reported maintenance on the new garbage trucks has started , each have around 150 fittings , and he would like to be authorized to spend $275 to $350 for an air powered grease gun. On roll call Ayes : Three, Nay : None , Absent Roehr. Permission granted . Moved by Councilman Getty, seconded by Councilman Wilharm that the Meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
