Motion carried. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Culp to approve the July 2, 2010 Minutes as mailed. Motion carried. TTNFINTSHFD BUSINESS Update-Traffic Signal Technician II—Traffic Operations The position was approved by the Human Resources Committee on 6/28/10 and by the Civil Service Commission on 7/2/10. There is a vacancy due to a resignation. The position was posted as a promotional in all City departments and 2 employees submitted a resume. Interviews are schedule for 8/4/10. NEW BIJSINESS The job description and testing criteria for Fire Recruit was presented for approval. The Human Resources Committee on 7/12/10 approved beginning the Civil Service process. There are several anticipated vacancies and the current list is expired. There have not been any changes in the job description and testing criteria. We will advertise extensively and are hoping for several minority and female applicants. Moved by Culp, seconded by Blitsch to approve the job description and testing criteria for Fire Recruit. Motion carried. The job description and testing criteria for Project Specialist — Community Planning & Development was presented for approval. The Human Resources Committee on 7/12/10 approved beginning the Civil Service process. This is a new position being funded through all the extra money that has come due to the flooding and subsequent damage. Community Development has been utilizing temporary employees to try to keep up with the work since 2008. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Culp to approve the job description and testing criteria for Project Specialist — Community Planning& Development. Motion carried. The job description and testing criteria for Clerk I was presented for approval. The current vacancy is in Waste Management due to a resignation. The Human Resources Committee on 7/12/10 approved beginning the Civil Service process. This is the process that may include a written test depending on number of qualified candidates. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Culp to approve the job description and testing criteria for Clerk I. Motion carried. The job description and testing criteria for Instrumentation Control Technician — Waste Management Services was presented for approval. The Human Resources Committee on 7/12/10 approved beginning the Civil Service process. There is a vacancy due to a retirement and this vacancy has been open for at least a couple years. There have not been any major changes in the job description. Moved by Culp, seconded by Blitsch to approve the job description and testing criteria for Instrumentation Control Technician—Waste Management Services. Motion carried. Funchess questioned whether the 40 words per minute minimum typing requirement for Clerk I is necessary. Culp responded that she feels it is. Huddleston said that all the typing minimums have been adjusted down over the years. OTHER BUSYNESS None With no further business, moved by Culp, seconded by Blitsch to adjourn. Motion carried.
