Motion carried. Moved by Culp, seconded by Blitsch to approve the March 11, 2009 Minutes as mailed. Motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS The Civil Service List for Signal Technician I-Traffic Operations was presented for certification. The Human Resources Committee on 1/20/09 approved beginning the Civil Service process. The Civil Service Commission on 2/4//09 approved the job description and testing criteria. There is a vacancy due to a retirement. The position was advertised in the Courier, listed with Workforce Development and on the Cable Access channel, posted on the City website, a notice sent to the agencies and organizations on the Affirmative Action List and posted in all City departments. We received 14 resumes and 9 candidates were invited to interview on 3/24/09 by a panel of Mohammad Elahi and Matt Vlasak from Traffic Operations and Cheryl Huddleston from Human Resources. One candidate cancelled their interview, 3 candidates did not show for their interview and 1 did not pass the interview. There is a list with 4 white males. Moved by Luce, seconded by Blitsch: We, the members of the Civil Service Commission, certify the following list of applicants, who are eligible based upon the examination process as set forth by the Civil Service Commission for the appointment to the position of Signal Technician I for the City of Waterloo, Iowa Traffic Operations Department. Appointments shall be made from this list for the next year(April 1, 2009—March 31, 2010). CERTIFIED LIST Larry Hazuka Craig Hintzman Nicholas Dunn Jeff Santee Motion carried. NEW RIJSINESS None.
