Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Porter to approve the 8/24/07 Agenda as mailed. Motion carried.
Moved by Luce, seconded by Porter to approve the 7/20/07 Minutes as mailed. Motion carried.
IJNFINISHED RIJSINESS

Fire Lieutenant - approved by Human Resources Committee on 4/9/07 and by Civil Service Commission on
6/22/07; vacancies due to retirements and disabilities. Posted at all fire stations and received 22 resumes, but 1
candidate withdrew prior to testing. Written exam given on 8/22/07 and interviews scheduled for 8-28-30/07.
Fire Captain — approved by Human Resources Committee on 4/9/07 and by Civil Service Commission on
6/22/07; vacancies due to retirements. Posted at all fire stations; received 8 resumes. Written exam given on
8/23/07 and interviews scheduled for 8/27/07.
Police Lieutenant - approved by Human Resources Committee on 6/4/07 and by Civil Service Commission on
6/22/07; anticipating vacancies due to retirements. Job notice posted in Police Department and received 7 resumes.
Interviews not yet scheduled.
Police Captain - approved by Human Resources Committee on 6/4/07 and by Civil Service Commission on
6/22/07; vacancy due to retirement. Job notice posted in Police Department and received 5 resumes. Interviews
not yet scheduled.
NEW RIJSINESS
The job description and testing criteria for Fire Recruit was presented for approval. The Human Resources
Committee on 8/20/07 approved beginning the Civil Service process. There will be several vacancies over the
next couple years due to retirements. The only change from previous testing is that the Fire Chief has requested
going to one Civil Service List with 40 candidates, rather that two lists. This is acceptable under Iowa Code.
Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Porter to approve the job description and testing criteria for Fire Recruit.
Motion carried.

carried.
