Motion carried. Moved by Luce, seconded by Blitsch to approve the 4/7/06 Minutes as mailed. Motion carried. IJNFINISHED RIJSINESS The Civil Service List for Garage Mechanic was presented for certification. The position was approved by the Human Resources Committee on 11/14/05 and by the Civil Service Commission on 12/7/05. There is a vacancy due to a retirement. The position was advertised in the Waterloo Courier, listed with Iowa Workforce Development, notices sent to the agencies and organizations on the Affirmative Action List, posted on the City website, the cable access channel and in all City departments. Fifteen resumes were received and twelve candidates were invited to interview on 4/19-20/06. Interview panel members were Larry Smith from Waste Management, Darryl Hartema from Fire Rescue, Roger Allen from Leisure Services and Cheryl Huddleston from Human Resources. One candidate canceled, one did not show for his interview and two did not pass the interview. The Civil Service List has six white males, one black male and one Hispanic male. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce: We, the members of the Civil Service Commission, certify the following list of applicants, who are eligible, based upon the examination process as set forth by the Civil Service Commission for the appointment to the position of Mechanic for the City of Waterloo, Iowa Central Garage. Appointments shall be made from this list for the next year(May 16, 2006—May 15, 2007). CERTIFIED LIST Tony Salisbury Kent Flege Johnny Garcia Eric Zuck Justin Trulson Mark Miller Efonda Montgomery Troy Henninger Motion carried. Updates 4. Golf Manager—received seventeen resumes and seven candidates have been invited to interview on 6/16/06. Battalion Chief—decision made to hold off until early fall. Police Sergeant — fourteen resumes received and candidates will take a written examination 6/15/06 with interviews tentatively scheduled for mid-July. Clerk I — received eighty-eight resumes and fifty-seven candidates submitted adequate typing verification so will be scheduling written examination with the top thirty scores who must pass each section of the examination with at least a 70% invited to interview. NEW RIJSINESS The job description and testing criteria for Park Maintenance II/Forestry-Leisure Services was presented for approval. There is a vacancy due to a resignation. On 5/1/06, the Human Resources Committee approved beginning the Civil Service process. There are no changes in the job description and testing criteria. Moved by Luce, seconded by Blitsch to approve the job description and testing criteria for Park Maintenance II/Forestry-Leisure Services. Motion carried.
