Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Porter to approve the 4/7/06 Revised Agenda as mailed. Motion
carried.
Moved by Luce, seconded by Porter to approve the 2/20/06 Minutes as mailed. Motion carried.
UNFINISHED RITSINESS
Updates
Garage Mechanic—interviews are scheduled with ten candidates for April 19-20, 2006.
Park Maintenance I (7 month)—position has been cut from budget.
NEW BUSINESS
The job description and testing criteria for Golf Manager-Leisure Services was presented for
approval. There is a vacancy due to a resignation. On 3/20/06, the Human Resources Committee
approved beginning the Civil Service process. There are no significant changes in the job
description although some marketing duties and responsibility for maintaining River Renaissance
grounds have been added. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Porter to approve the job description
and testing criteria for Golf Manager-Leisure Services. Motion carried.
The job description and testing criteria for Battalion Chief-Fire Rescue was presented for
approval. All three present Battalion Chiefs are planning to retire within the next two years. On
4/3/06, the Human Resources Committee approved beginning the Civil Service process. There
are no changes in the job description. There has been language added regarding if the Fire
Marshal should apply and make the Civil Service List. The Fire Marshal would be allowed to
remain as Fire Marshal. Moved by Luce, seconded by Porter to approve the job description and
testing criteria for Battalion Chief-Fire Rescue. Motion carried.
The job description and testing criteria for Police Sergeant was presented for approval. There is
a vacancy due to a resignation and the list is also used for out-of-rank assignments. On 4/3/06,
the Human Resources Committee approved beginning the Civil Service process. There are no
changes in the job description. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Porter to approve the job
description and testing criteria for Police Sergeant. Motion carried.
The job description and testing criteria for Clerk I was presented for approval. There is a
vacancy in Police Records due to a transfer. On 4/3/06, the Human Resources Committee
approved beginning the Civil Service process. There are no changes in the job description. The
testing provides for alternare processes depending on the numbers. applicants. If there are
more than forty (40) qualified applicants with typing verifications, the Human Resources
Department will give a written test purchased from a testing service. Moved by Blitsch,
seconded by Porter to approve the job description and testing criteria for Clerk I. Motion carried.
OTHER RITSINESS
John Blitsch has been reappointed to another four-year term on the Civil Service Commission.
With no further business before the Commission, moved by Blitsch, seconded by Luce to adjourn.
Motion carried.
