Motion carried. 5/19/05 Minutes will need to be approved next meeting because there are not two commissioners in attendance who attended that meeting. ITNFINISHED RITSINESS The Civil Service List for Forestry Foreman was presented for certification. There is a vacancy due to a voluntary demotion. The Human Resources Committee on 5/2/05 and the Civil Service Commission on 5/19/05 approved the position. The job notice was posted internally as a promotion and two employees submitted a resume and were interviewed on 6/13/05 by Todd Derifield, City Forester, Bill Bachman, Leisure Services Assistant Director and Cheryl Huddleston, Human Resources Manager. The list contains two white males. Moved by Luce, seconded by Porter: We, the members of the Civil Service Commission, certify the following list of applicants, who are eligible based upon the examination process as set forth by the Civil Service Commission for the appointment to the position of Forestry Foreman for the City of Waterloo, Iowa Leisure Services Department. Appointments shall be made from this list for the next two years (June 17, 2005 — June 16, 2007). CERTIFIED LIST Lucas Even Mitch Howe Motion carried. The Civil Service List for Instrumentation Control Technician — Waste Management Services was presented for certification. There is a vacancy due to a resignation. The Human Resources Committee on 4/11/05 and the Civil Service Commission on 4/22/05 approved the position. It was advertised in the Courier, posted on the City website and cable access channel, listed with Iowa Workforce Development, notices sent to agencies and organizations on the Affirmative Action List and posted in all City departments. Five resumes were received and three candidates were invited to interview. Kent Quin, Instrumentation Control Foreman, Larry Smith, Waste Management Services Assistant Superintendent and Cheryl Huddleston, Human Resources Manager conducted interviews on 6/9/05. One candidate cancelled and there is a list with two white males. The Civil Service List for Cable Television Production Coordinator — City Clerk's Office/Telecommunications was presented for certification. There is a vacancy due to a resignation. The Human Resources Committee on 4/11/05 and the Civil Service Commission on 4/22/05 approved the position. It was advertised in the Courier, posted on the City website and cable access channel, listed with Iowa Workforce Development, notices sent to agencies and organizations on the Affirmative Action List and posted in all City departments. Seventeen resumes were received and twelve candidates were invited to interview. Dan Evanson and Janet Longus, Cable Commission members, and Cheryl Huddleston, Human Resources Manager, conducted interviews on 6/14-16/05. One candidate cancelled and there is a list with two white females and eight white males and a reserve list with one white male. Appointments shall be made from this list for the next year(June 17, 2005—June 16, 2006). RESERVE LIST Patrick Hunstiger Motion carried. TJpdates Fire Recruit — 67 candidates are scheduled for the physical ability test on 7-12-13/05 at the Regional Training Center. This group includes three white females, 1 American Indian male and one Hispanic male. Those who pass will be interviewed 7/14-15, 18-20/05. Total score will be determined by giving 40% _ght to the written exam and 60%weigh.to the oral interview. The Civil Service List will be a two-year list Permit Writing Specialist/Building Inspections —new position approved by Human Resources 5/2/05 and Civil Service 5/19/05. Position advertised in Courier, posted on City website and Cable Access channel, listed with Iowa Workforce Development, notices sent to agencies and organizations on Affirmative Action list and posted in all City departments. Received 20 resumes that are still being reviewed. Interviews tentatively scheduled for 7/21-22/05. Housing Partnership Coordinator/Community Development — new position approved by Human Resources 5/2/05 and Civil Service 5/19/05. Position advertised in Courier, posted on City website and Cable Access channel, listed with Iowa Workforce Development, notices sent to agencies and organizations on Affirmative Action list and posted in all City departments. Received 19 resumes. Five candidates scheduled to interview 6/29/05. Graphic Designer/Digital Arts Manager/Culture & Arts — new position approved by Human Resources 5/2/05 and Civil Service 5/19/05. Position advertised in Courier, posted on City website and Cable Access channel, listed with Iowa Workforce Development, notices sent to agencies and organizations on Affirmative Action list and posted in all City departments. Received 36 resumes that are still being reviewed. Interviews tentatively scheduled for 7/26- 28/05.
