HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/13/2003 CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MINUTES February 13, 2003 11:00 a.m. First Floor Conference Room Members Present: John Blitsch, Lou Porter, Walter Reed(Ex Officio) Members Absent: Tim Luce Others Present: Rudy Jones, John Daws,Paul Huting, June Watkins, Cheryl Huddleston Moved by Porter, seconded by Blitsch to approve the February 13, 2003 Agenda as amended to delete Item A(1) under New Business. Motion carried. Moved by Porter, seconded by Blitsch to approve the January 14, 2003 Minutes as mailed. Motion carried. ITNFINISHED BITSINESS Updates Instrumentation Control Technician Position still on hold due to funding concerns. Clerk I—Fire Rescue & Waste Management Will be contacting qualified applicants to see how many of the fifty-five are still interested. Will give written exam if numbers are too unwieldy to conduct interviews. Airport Maintenance Worker Will be scheduling interviews as time permits—probably about twenty qualified candidates. Sports Programmer Twenty-eight resumes received as of 2/12/03. Deadline 2/21/03. Park Maintenance II-Forestry Thirty-two resumes received as of 2/12/03. Deadline 2/14/03. Golf Maintenance II Posted internally. Four resumes received. Will schedule interviews soon. Fire Recruit Fifty-seven resumes received as of 2/12/03. Deadline 2/28/03. One hundred thirty potential candidates attended workshops held 1/23/03 and 2/8/03 at Regional Training Center. Written exam will be held 3/25/03. NEW BUSINESS The job description and testing criteria for Park Maintenance II-Construction was presented for approval. There is a vacancy due to a promotion. There are no changes in the job description or testing criteria. Moved by Blitsch, seconded by Porter to approve the job description and testing criteria for Park Maintenance II-Construction. Motion carried. The job description and testing criteria for Senior Planner was presented for approval. There is a vacancy due to a resignation. This position will be posted internally as a promotion. There are no changes in the job desc'tion and testing criteria. Moved by Basch, seconded by Porter to approve the job description and testing criteria for Senior Planner. Motion carried. There was a short discussion regarding why some positions are posted as promotional and others are advertised as open. The job description and testing criteria for Contracts & Grants Coordinator was presented for approval. This is a new position that incorporates some Brownfields grant responsibilities with those of contract compliance. This is part of the reorganization of Community Planning & Development. It will be posted internally as a promotion. Walter Reed wondered what percentage of this person's duties would be dedicated to contract compliance. Rudy Jones thought it would be about 80%. Moved by Porter, seconded by Blitsch to approve the job d description and testing criteria for Contracts & Grants Coordinator. Motion carried.
